"Greyson!" Laura squealed and tried to pull her son away from the pink-haired girl, but it was no use."
"You stupid bitch!" Greyson hissed. "You think you can get away with that little game? I should kill you. You almost got Indiana arrested and possibly expelled!"
"Greyson, stop!" Laura shouted.
Indiana watched from the front door of the pack's house.
After clearing up the situation at school, she and Greyson had returned home to wait for Kimberly.
She knew she probably should stop Greyson, but deep down, she didn't want to.
"—She's leaving," Greyson hissed before letting Kimberly fall to the ground. Immediately, she was seized by an intense coughing fit.
"—Greyson, I know what you did was wrong, but you can't leave. Where else are you going to go?"
"Do you think I give a damn?" Greyson yelled, glaring at Kimberly. "She can sleep in a trash can if she wants. If she's not gone by tonight, I'll drag her into the woods by her hair and tie her to a tree myself."
Kimberly paled at the threat, and Indiana knew she had to calm Greyson down before he attacked her.
She walked towards him and intertwined her fingers with his, drawing him towards her.
"Calm down ," Indiana said soothingly, kissing his cheek. " I don't like her, but I don't want you to kill her."
Greyson's rage began to slowly dissipate under her touch.
"—That's fine," he murmured. "But she's still leaving."
Indiana was in Greyson's office, sitting in the leather armchair and reading a book. She was incredibly bored, but she wanted to be there when Greyson arrived with his father. She needed to know what had been said about Rogue.
Greyson knew that Indiana was in his office, but his father, Mark, was surprised to see her.
"—Indie—" she smiled as Greyson walked toward his desk, kissing Indiana as he passed her. "It's good to see you again. I'm sorry to hear what happened earlier with Kimberly."
"—Okay. It's settled now," said Indiana.
Greyson sat down behind his desk and Mark took the chair in front of him. Greyson sighed.
"The Elders don't know where Rogue is or how to find him," Greyson told Indiana.
“I was told that all the packs would be alerted and that the order had been given to kill on sight,” Mark said. “They sent trackers and were able to faintly follow his scent trail to this village, but he disappeared. They searched, but no one could find him.”
"I understand," Indiana swallowed. "So what now?"
"We're keeping our guard up, and I'm still training you," Greyson said. "You need to be able to fight properly."
“Rogue isn’t invincible. When he emerges from the shadows, we’ll be ready,” Mark said. “The Elders have given us all their resources. As soon as we know Rogue’s location, they’ll send some of their best warriors to help us if necessary. The neighboring packs will surely help. Everyone knows your story, Indie. Your father was a kind and much-loved Alpha, and Rogue must be stopped.”
"I'll have Ace contact the other packs," Greyson agreed.
"—And what about tomorrow? —Indiana wondered.— Isn't that the best time for him to attack, when we're traveling alone?"
"We won't be alone. We'll be escorted by members of our pack to Janson's territory. Some members will stay with us, and the others will return home. They'll travel back to Janson's pack when we're ready to leave."
"—Rogue wouldn't dare attack such a large pack of wolves. He may be unstable, but he's not stupid."
Indiana nodded, feeling somewhat comforted by Greyson's precautions.
"Okay," he said.
Greyson sighed loudly and stood up.
"Now that that's settled, are you ready to go to sleep?"
It was late and Indiana had been waiting for Greyson for quite some time. She nodded and yawned as she stood up.
Greyson put his arm around her waist and held her close to him.
"I'll see you both tomorrow," Mark said.
The couple left Greyson's office and within minutes were in his room.
"Did I say I wanted to sleep here tonight?" Indiana asked playfully.
"No," Greyson said quietly, pulling his shirt over his head. "But you're not leaving this room."
Indiana raised an eyebrow as Greyson kicked off his shoes.
"—Oh, really?"
She took a playful step toward the door, but Greyson was in front of her a second later. He closed the door and pulled her toward the bed.
Indiana stifled a scream as she landed on the soft mattress.
Greyson sat beside her and drew her towards him, kissing her tenderly.
Indiana reached for his shirt and pulled it back over his head.
"Not tonight," she yawned. "I'm tired."
She slipped under the covers and pulled Greyson to her side.
"I can wake you up," Greyson murmured against his back.
Indiana laughed and intertwined her fingers with his.
"—Tomorrow," she said softly before closing her eyes.
Greyson smiled mischievously and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close to him.
"-Of course."
It was completely dark when Greyson woke up. He looked down at Indiana, who was curled up against his chest, and smiled.
"Happy birthday, darling," she said softly.
He ran his fingers through her hair and leaned in to kiss her jaw.
"—Greyson —said Indiana wearily as she stretched."
"It's already morning," he murmured.
Indiana opened her eyes.
"What time is it? When I said 'tomorrow,' I meant morning."
"It's morning," Greyson smiled smugly. "Very early in the morning."
"Greyson, you have a long trip today. I don't want you to oversleep..."
Greyson kissed her firmly and silenced her.
"Happy birthday," she whispered.
Indiana smiled against his lips and wrapped her arms around him.
They spent the rest of the early morning together before falling asleep again.
Indiana didn't sleep much for the rest of the night. She lay next to Greyson, wrapped in the sheets, sparks still tingling between them.
"Tired?" Greyson asked presumptuously, noticing her fatigued face.
"—Exhausted," Indianna complained. "You woke me up at a terrible hour!"
"—Don't complain," Greyson smiled mischievously and kissed her temple. "You had a wonderful time. Happy birthday, darling."
Indiana smiled as Greyson ran his hand along her arm. She kissed him softly before becoming serious.
"I think walking is going to hurt."
Greyson burst out laughing and wrapped his arms around Indiana, pulling her close.
"I'm so glad to have found you," she said softly.
Indiana began to fidget under his intense gaze, and Greyson raised an eyebrow.
"Don't feel embarrassed," he said, placing his hands on either side of her waist.
"Well, it's just that you're staring at me," Indiana murmured.
"-I know."
"Stop looking at me."
"—And why should I do that? —Greyson wondered."
"We're partners, and that means I have you all to myself, darling."
"You're the only boy who's ever seen me like this," Indiana blurted out without thinking.
Greyson nodded. "That's good."
"It's still strange," she admitted. "I've never done this before, and you..."
"What?" Greyson asked.
"—You do."
Greyson felt a spark of jealousy from Indiana and smiled.
"Is someone jealous?"
"—No," murmured Indiana, avoiding his gaze. "Well... just a little!"
"—Why? You know I wouldn't go near any other girl."
"—Not now," grumbled Indiana. "I remember the girls telling me when I got here that you'd slept with half the school."
"Shh!" Greyson said sternly, placing his hand over Indianna's mouth. "Okay, yes, I've been with a few girls, but that was long before you, Indie. There's no need to be jealous. I only have eyes for you."
Indiana sighed and nodded.
"—Listen," Greyson said firmly, lowering his face until it was inches from hers. "No pouting. It's your birthday, and I'm not going to let you be anything but happy."
"I'm fine," Indiana said softly and kissed Greyson.
"—Do you promise?"
"-I promise."
"—Good. Then it's time for your gift."
Greyson reached under the bed and pulled out a long velvet box.
Indiana sat down and put on one of Greyson's shirts before taking the box.
"It's not going to open by itself," he said.
Indiana rolled her eyes, but opened the box.
"—Oh, Greyson —she stifled a gasp as she gazed at the delicate bracelet inside."
It was white gold and absolutely beautiful. It looked antique-style, yet simple and charming at the same time.
"—She's beautiful."
"It belonged to my grandmother," Greyson said. He lifted the bracelet and took Indiana's wrist. "And now it's yours."
Indiana watched as Greyson fastened the bracelet around her wrist. Then he took a charm—a small wolf with the letters G and I engraved on it—and attached it to one of the rings.
Indiana smiled.
"—Greyson, I love it! —she squealed and wrapped her arms around his neck—. It's perfect! Thank you!"
Greyson smiled and kissed Indiana.
"—I'm glad you like it."
"I love it," she repeated.
She looked Greyson in the eyes and brought her hand to his face, caressing his cheek.
"Greyson," she said softly, "I love you."
Greyson's eyes lit up.
"-Oh really?"
"—Seriously —Indiana smiled."
"You have no idea how long I've been waiting for you to tell me that properly," Greyson whispered.
He kissed her forehead.
"-I love you darling."
