Anja stared at him, not understanding. She was bewildered by all this and wanted to ask him what it meant, but honestly, she was afraid of the answer.

“Milo... what are you talking about?”

“That apparently I’m not being clear enough, so... here, this is for you.”

He opened Anja’s hand and placed the pouch in it. She shook her head instinctively, but ended up pouring the contents into her palm, and an ancient, valuable wedding ring fell into her hand.

“I know it’s not an engagement ring,” he muttered. “It’s actually a family heirloom, and it belonged to my great-great-grandfather. I think they’d need to adjust it a lot for you... because it’s supposed to be mine, so if you want, you can put it on this finger since...”

“Milo!” Anja stopped him with a gesture of confusion. “Am I losing my mind, or are you asking me to propose to you?”

“Nooooo! No no no no no! I’m asking you, but I have to buy a nicer ring first,” he stammered nervously. “But
