ArroganteJefe / CEOMalentendidoAtraccion opuestaCruelReconquistar a mi pareja

Valeria is desperate to find a job that will allow her to support the expenses of her little sister, who requires special education. So she agrees to a very unique bet with the owner of a design studio: get her company's inflexible CEO to approve her sexiest lingerie collection, in exchange for a permanent position as a designer. Nick Bennet is perhaps the sternest and most tyrannical man in an industry as creative as fashion, and he definitely doesn't like uninhibited, flirtatious women like Valeria. But one thing is what his mind wants, and quite another what the rest of him wants... Will they survive three months working together? Will Valeria achieve her purpose... or will Nick be stronger than her?

  • EPILOGUE

THE CEO'S LITTLE TROUBLEMAKER A book by Valeria Adams New York Times bestseller Number one best-selling book for twelve weeks. The ad had appeared on the huge screen behind the film set. A makeup artist was busy getting her ready and the journalist laughed beside her; they were old friends after all. When the director finally said “ACTION!”, the journalist started with the questions. “Valeria, you became a famous writer almost since your first book came out, but I must admit that with this one you surprised us a lot. We were expecting more fantasy, more vampires and witches, and you suddenly give us this... family chronicle?” “That's right. THE CEO’S LITTLE TROUBLEMAKER is the story of my grandparents,” answered Valeria. “A year ago, I found one of my grandmother's diaries, and... well, I was named after her, so I got very curious. She's an amazing designer, but there's a big part of her life that few people know about.” “So... everything you're telling in this story... really

  • CHAPTER 117. A shotgun

Eight years later. Alice entered her father's office and saw him sitting in front of the window, aloof and worried. “Dad? Are you all right?” she asked, approaching her. Nick smiled, hugging her. “Hi, honey, you're out of school early! I thought you had your final exams.” Alice had gotten into Stanford University at thirteen, and Valeria, Nick, and the twins had moved to San Francisco. “Well, I did, but some idiot apparently didn't think he could pass the exam, so he triggered the fire alarm and they had to postpone it.” Alice sighed, sitting down across from him. “What's got you so worried?” Nick ran his hands through his hair in despair. Over the years Alice had become his best friend and the closest of his daughters, because the twins, besides having each other, were at an age when they didn't even know he existed. “I'm worried about your mother,” he confessed. “She's been very... irritable the last few weeks. I do my best not to upset her, but the truth is I don't understand

  • CHAPTER 116. A perfect ceremony

Walking down the aisle on her father's arm was what every little girl dreamed of as a child... but the twins didn't care about that. They each placed themselves at a given stretch of the aisle and claimed to carry her along their allotted section. Andrew handed her to Richard, Richard handed her to Elliot, and Elliot handed her to Nick. “It has literally cost you blood, sweat and tears. Don't screw it up,” he warned him. Nick smiled as he took Valeria's hand in front of the hundred people closest to their lives, and the two turned to Connor, who looked at them slyly with his bible in his hands. “You freaked out, didn't you?” he whispered to Nick, and Nick shook his head patiently. “I didn't freak out, but don't do it again.” “Come on, admit it, I'm handsome enough to steal the bride,” he teased him. “And the bride has a stiletto heel that would bury itself very well in the shoe of either of you!” Valeria chided them through clenched teeth and Connor cleared his throat, starting t

  • CHAPTER 115. A relentless chase

“You're so crazy,” laughed Connor and he almost spat out his champagne. “Do you really want to do it?” “Of course,” Valeria assured him. “But I need help because you obviously know the right people.” “Okay, I'll set it up,” Connor agreed, "but I'm not responsible for the outcome.” “Honey, you and I know what that outcome will be!” laughed Valeria, toasting him. “Yes. It's perfect timing anyway, in a couple of weeks I'm going to New York for several months and I wouldn't have wanted to miss this.” “New York? Right! Dad told me you're opening another office there,” she recalled. “That's right. We'll expand Sheffield & Lieberman. Jake will stay here and I'll take over the New York office.” “Well, I wish you all the success in the world,” Valeria congratulated him. “And I hope with all my heart that I only have to call you just because we miss you!” “Amen to that!” They said goodbye, and Valeria went straight to the twins' office to include them in the plan. The whole family had t

  • CHAPTER 114. Going home

Layla turned pale, pink, red, and almost went through all the colors of the rainbow when she heard Richard ask her that question. “Somebody get me a broom!” she asked. “Because I swear I'm going to hit him with it!” Everyone burst out laughing as Richard pouted. “It's not the end of the world either. I end up sleeping more in your apartment than I do at home.” “Exactly! And if you think I don't see you when you sneak out of my place before dawn... well, you're wrong!” said Andrew, mocking him. “Stop acting like a teenager and get him out of my house.” Layla sighed hesitantly. She wasn't afraid of sacrificing her freedom, but of all the things Richard might want someday that she couldn't give him. “Are you sure about this?” she asked him softly, and he gave her a charming smile. “Of course. There's nothing I want more in the world than to be with you. Everything else we can figure out later... together.” Layla rolled her eyes and took the little box. “Okay! I give up... But I'm

  • CHAPTER 113. A present for daddy

Valeria took a deep breath. She had taken classes, read books, done absolutely everything she was supposed to do, but nothing could prepare her for the pain she was about to feel. “I'm going to give you a vasectomy with manicure tweezers!” she yelled at Nick as another contraction hit. “And without anesthesia!” Nick stoically endured the finger squeezing and all the curses that suddenly came out of that pretty little mouth, and accompanied her every step of the way. It wasn't a difficult delivery considering they were twins, but it still lasted over thirteen hours. The family crowded outside the hospital's delivery room and if Amelia hadn't planted her feet, they would all have gone in with her. Finally, Lisa was the first to come out, and Layla only took another five minutes. They were healthy, plump, and beautiful, and weighed six pounds each. Amelia cleaned them, and after the routine check, she put them in Valeria's arms. “How are you feeling, love?” Nick asked, wiping away h

  • CHAPTER 112. A woman watering the lawn

Nick made an effort to get up. He needed to get his life and especially his body in order. Those four weeks asleep hadn't exactly helped. He touched the bed beside him and realized it was cold, Valeria must have been up for some time, and his senses were so dulled that he hadn't even noticed. “Nicholas Bennet, wake up, at this rate you won't be able to make love to your wife for another month,” he scolded himself, getting up. Alice had already gone to school, and Valeria was on the terrace, smiling at the cold morning air. “Troublemaker?” said Nick, hugging her from behind. “Is everything all right? Why did you leave me alone?” Valeria turned around in his arms and laughed at his pout. “You look like a little boy.” “I am your little boy,” Nick kissed her. “Now tell me, really, what's wrong? I know you and I know something is up.” Valeria took a breath, took him by the hand and dragged him to an armchair to sit on him. “I want to leave.” “Do you want to...? I don't understand.

  • CHAPTER 111. A couple of heartbeats

Valeria felt her world spinning out of control around her. She tried to hold on to one of the waiting room chairs, but finally Richard's arms were all that kept her from going face first into the floor. “There's got to be something we can do!” Layla cried. “He can't stay like this forever, it's not fair.” “No, it's not,” said the doctor. “But right now we can only hope and pray for the best.” Valeria couldn't count the tears she shed that day, or the next, or the next, as she waited for Nick to wake up with no results. “Either you get up and get to your feet, or I'm going to ask Amelia to sedate you!” Andrew warned her. “I should have forgiven him,” Valeria muttered, looking at Nick. He was unconscious, connected to an oxygen line and looking too calm. “I had the chance, I had plenty of chances...” “Doll, you can't do this to yourself...” “No one can say he didn't fight every chance he got.” Valeria wiped away her tears. “But I didn't want to forgive him.” Andrew hugged her tig

  • CHAPTER 110. Strange news

The screams suddenly became second nature. Valeria scrambled in Elliot's arms to look into the warehouse when she heard the second gunshot. People were running in and out of the warehouse, and Valeria felt a lump in her throat. She tried to go back inside, but Elliot wouldn't let her. “I have to know what happened, Elliot!” “Then let's go ask, but you won't go back in there!” her brother exclaimed. “Wait here.” Connor ran to one of the officers, leaving the warehouse to find out what was going on. He returned a few minutes later with a grim expression. “Let's go,” he said, taking Valeria's hand. Richard tried to stop him but Connor refused. “Everything is under control inside, but you have to go in and see Nick for a moment before they take him away.” Valeria's legs failed and Elliot hugged her to hold her up. “What do you mean, take him away? What do you mean? They killed him... Oh God! Did they kill him?” “No, no! But he was wounded. Looks like Miranda shot him,” Connor sa

Overall the story is very insteresting, conveyed in easy fun style language. There are many unexpected hilarious plots, sometimes a bit tense, sometimes annoying plots. However, its grammatical mistakes is annoying, especially the usage of wrong pronouns for genders, perhapsfue to translation ?

Good storyline!! However, the translation continually mixed up pronouns, leaving the reader confused until they realized what happened. (Also changed one of the characters names; Alice/Linda) I will read other works from this author....

not sure on storyline yet but the English grammar is a bit distracting that needs improvement, otherwise it may affect quality of novel reading for English readers.

CHAPTER 1. A dangerous bet
CEO´s Little Troublemaker/Day Torres
Valeria sighed bitterly as she watched Alice playing alone at the farthest table of the restaurant, in a corner almost nobody used. “Val, stop thinking.” Her friend Emma approached her and hugged her with a sigh. “Alice is going to be fine.” “That's what she says, but she's six years old, what can she know?” said Valeria trying to hold back her tears. “Well, she's a child genius,” said Emma smiling. “At six years old she is already smarter than you and me”. “She's a child genius who doesn't like to be touched, who barely eats, who suffers from social anxiety, and I don't know how many other disorders she has been diagnosed with precisely because she's too smart,” replied Valeria. “She should be in a specialized school for children like her, where they help her... where they help her be happy, because it's obvious that I can't!” Valeria hid her face in her hands and sobbed in despair. Alice was a child who required special care; and a job as a waitress, even working full time and d

Valeria smirked. Her mother had taken it upon herself to make her a strong woman, even if sometimes, like at that instant, she did not measure her words. “Let me get this straight, Mrs. Bennet. This is what exactly for you? A wager against your son... or against me?” she asked. “No, my dear, this is a desperate attempt to see joy and sexiness walk down these halls again!” Layla assured her. “But you can call it whatever you want. The point is that if in three months you turn out to be just another one of those submissive designers then—” “Then I'm no good to you,” Valeria finished. “Ok, I accept the deal.” She stood up and extended her hand with determination. “Really? Are you sure?” Layla seemed afraid to get too excited. “On one condition: If I am going to confront your son, I must at least have your support. Otherwise, he can fire me whenever he wants.” “Don't worry,” Layla smiled. “I have a special contract waiting for someone like you. Take everything to Human Resources. I'

CHAPTER 3. A“Fired!”Designer
CEO´s Little Troublemaker/Day Torres
To say that it had been embarrassing for Nicholas Bennet to walk out of the women's restroom of his company cafeteria shirtless, wearing only his jacket and the face of a serial killer, was an understatement. He had resisted the temptation to trash his office, because in the end the poor office was not to blame for the existence of women like her. He took deep breaths all the way to his apartment, but by the end of that night, he couldn't stop three or four ornaments from going crashing into the wall. It was true that he was stupidly distracted on his cell phone, and he had been quite ready to apologize until his eyes had met those of that woman. She was of medium height, beautiful as a goddamn mermaid and with the voice of one, even while angry. She had long, curly, brown hair, brown, defiant eyes, and a body to stare at until the end of time. That was what had bothered him. He could smell it, feel it, sense it: she was one of those women capable of dragging a man's heart under th

CHAPTER 4. A place too small

He was going to explode. Nick felt as if he couldn't fit into the suit he was wearing due to the helplessness he was feeling. That girl was shameless. And she had left him unable to say anything else! Him! He went to his desk and furiously pressed the intercom button on the phone. “Oli!” That scream through the phone made the girl jump in her seat. “Yes?” “Get me Valeria Williams' contract right now!” “Right away, sir.” What Oli found when she opened the office door was far worse than a caged lion, so she put down the contract and almost ran out. Nick was fuming out of his ears. That insolent... shameless... brazen... girl! How dare she threaten to sue him! He just felt like choking her with his own hands... like this... around that neck... just above the chest... that chest... “Fuck, Nick, get a grip on yourself!” he chastised himself internally and sat down calmly, very calmly, to review that damned contract. Ten minutes later, his shout came over the intercom again: “Oli!”

Valeria had her head so buried in the designs that she barely noticed Oli gawking at the drawings. “Val, these are amazing,” she murmured, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Valeria raised her eyes and smiled. “Do you like them?” “I've never seen designs like these before! They're cute but... sexy... Is it even possible? I mean... one would feel virginal and naughty in these!” “Yes, that's the idea,” Valeria explained. “You know the CEO is going to collapse when he sees this, don’t you?” Oli warned her. “Well... if he drops dead in the middle of the meeting we'll save ourselves a lot of headaches,” Valeria said derisively. “Maybe I should have made them more provocative...” They both laughed, and Oli told her that the meeting was about to start. Valeria had spent the week locked in her cubicle, and Nick Bennet had spent the week in a fury because he couldn't get the legal grounds to fire her. They had avoided each other as much as possible, but the time had come to present th

CHAPTER 6. An emergency hospital
CEO´s Little Troublemaker/Day Torres
It would have been a lie to say that the slap hadn’t hurt, that unruly girl had a heavy little hand, but the tears running down her cheeks caused a greater impact on him. They were tears of sincere and silent rage, the kind that overflowed and destroyed what was in front of it, and he knew it perfectly well because his was exactly the same. Valeria did not say another word. She left that office crying, leaving him with the horrible feeling that he had made a big mistake, that he had done something wrong, very wrong. He took some time to cool off. He had to calm down because in the last week he had completely lost control. What the hell was happening to him? He wasn't like that! And she wasn't the first easy woman to cross his path. So what was exactly bothering him so much about her? He paced around the office, rubbing the back of his neck with one hand, and saw the folder Valeria had brought him with the designs lying in the corner. He hadn't even seen them properly the first time

CHAPTER 7. A different look

Nick closed his eyes and exhaled deeply. “Come on, let's sit down,” he said softly. “As you say, we can yell later, but now there are more important things.” Valeria didn't say anything. She just walked to one of the seats and filled out the form she already knew by heart. Not even twenty minutes had passed when a doctor came into the waiting room and Valeria got up quickly to meet him. “Alan!” Valeria hugged him for a second and he smiled with an expression that felt like a kick in Nick's stomach. “Alice...” “Don’t worry. I saw her. It’s all right. She's going to be fine,” the doctor assured her. He was in his thirties and seemed to be a serious, educated man, and more attractive than he should have been for a physician. “It's been a long time since she'd had a fever like this,” said the doctor. “Has she been under stress? Were you able to change schools? Nick saw that Valeria was looking at the floor and hugging herself. “No... I haven't been able to do it. I'm working on it

CHAPTER 8. A dangerous temptation
CEO´s Little Troublemaker/Day Torres
Nick closed his eyes. She was absolutely delicious. He could feel the heat rising up her body, tingling in his fingertips when he touched her. She felt small against him. Her body gave off an exquisite smell, and her sex felt hot even through the fabric. He slipped his tongue into her mouth and heard her stifle a moan, but it was obvious she was enjoying that kiss. She wasn't wearing a bra under her pajamas and Nick could feel every instinct awaken in him all at once as she pressed against his body. “Val...” he murmured. Kissing her, having her... it felt like it was the right time, the right place, the right woman... but she wasn't! She wasn't the right woman... not for him. Nick stopped that kiss before things got out of hand. He picked her up, standing up as he turned away from Valeria, and without even saying goodbye, reached for the door and left. Valeria stood in the middle of her kitchen. Trying to analyze what had just happened. Did she even like Nick Bennet? She put a hand

CHAPTER 9. A difficult woman

Valeria sat in her office, facing her small window through which she could see the sky. To the left, on one of the extensions of her desk, was a picture of her mother, her little sister, and her. The three of them looked happy... very happy. It had been happier times. She couldn't say that everything had changed since her mother's death, because they had never had much money, but at least Alice didn't get so sick before. She sighed, looking up at the sky. “Is it wrong to be strong, Mom? Is it wrong to want to feel powerful even though I'm not? I get trampled on enough, can you imagine if I were a submissive woman on top of that?” She shook her head, looking at the photo. “No, Mom, you taught me to be a warrior. I'm not going to keep quiet, I'm not going to lower my head, and if he has his tastes, I have my character and I'm not going to change for anyone, no matter how handsome he is.” She rubbed the glass with her fingertips and kissed the photo before returning it to its place.

CHAPTER 10. An unexpected encounter
CEO´s Little Troublemaker/Day Torres
Valeria had never been to a fashion show for distributors before, but it was obvious that it was considered a very important event, because twenty-four hours earlier they had put a huge clock with a countdown in the middle of the Design Studio break room and the real commotion began. The models were going back and forth, the Production girls were fitting everyone, and the designers were doing last minute alterations. Valeria and Oli looked at each other excitedly that they had both been asked to participate. All they talked about was Andrew Davies and the multimillion-dollar contracts that his visit always represented. He was one of the most coveted distributors by any design studio because his department stores were in more than fifty countries. “Are you ready for this?” Oli asked, adjusting Valeria's beautiful wide-sleeved blouse. “Are you ready?” “The worst thing that can happen to me is getting fired. You, on the other hand...” laughed Oli. “The CEO will choke me with his bar
