Chapter 40 —You got him, Dad

Narrator:

Roman stormed into his office in the mansion like a hurricane. He took off his coat and threw it on the leather sofa with a sharp gesture, before pouring himself a shot of whiskey and downing it in one gulp.

Dominic, who was sitting in the armchair opposite the desk, watched him silently, letting his boss process his frustration before speaking.

“Well?”

Roman rested his hands on the table, exhaled slowly, and, without looking at him, muttered,

“Dorian says there's nothing he can do.”

Dominic raised an eyebrow.

“Nothing at all?”

Roman shook his head, leaning back in his chair with his eyes closed.

“He says it's too late. That once she's deported, she won't be able to come back.”

Dominic drummed his fingers on the armrest, watching him closely.

“But...”

Roman opened his eyes, dark and sharp.

“But she could stay if she marries a citizen.”

Dominic let out a low whistle and crossed his arms.

“And what are you going to do about it?”

Roman picked up the
