Aylin stood up, her legs shakier than she would have liked to admit. Roman didn't move, but his gaze followed her, dark and expectant, as she walked slowly to the door. Each step was a sentence. She closed her fingers around the doorknob and turned the lock.

“That's a lot of money,” she murmured. Roman didn't answer. Aylin closed her eyes for a second, trying to control the trembling in her hands. “I suppose you're going to charge me... as is customary in these cases.” His silence made her shudder.
