Chapter 90 Go Back to Dad
There were only three days left until the transplant.

The room was dim when Kate eased the door open, trying not to make a sound. As she stepped inside, she saw Grayson asleep in the chair beside the bed. She paused for a second, just watching him.

She moved quietly, set her bag on the table, and approached the bed. In the process she brushed the chair, and he woke instantly.

"Is it morning already?" he mumbled, rubbing his eyes, disoriented.

Kate nodded. He straightened, blinking a few times until she came into focus. Then, without a word, he took her hand.

"He slept well," he said softly, glancing down at Oliver.

Kate let out a long breath, as if she'd been holding it for hours.

"Thank you… for being here. For supporting me."

Grayson looked at her in silence. One second passed, then another.

"I want to be with you always, Kate. We could try again… the three of us. A family."

She knew immediately that he meant it. Still, an invisible weight tightened in her chest.
