Roman was in his office, the lights off and an untouched glass on the table. He hadn't spoken since he returned. He remained silent, chewing over the last few hours, his body still and his mind sharp.
Dominic entered without knocking. He closed the door behind him and left a folder on the desk. Roman looked up.
“Speak,” he said in a dry, tense voice, as if he already knew he wasn't going to like what he was about to hear.
Dominic watched him for a few seconds before sitting down.
"There's no record of Miranda being sick.
The silence grew heavier.
“I searched all the systems. Clinics, private hospitals, health insurance. I checked everything from her real name to the alias she uses to impersonate Julieta. No history, no appointments, no treatments, nothing, Diablo, nothing.”
