Chapter 10 —Goodbye, Mom
Narrator:
Sasha stood motionless in front of the cemetery entrance, staring at the black gates as if they were an impenetrable barrier.
“Is this a joke?” she muttered, without taking her eyes off the gate, as if she couldn't believe they were really there.
Aylin shook her head gently, keeping her voice calm.
“No, Sasha. I came to bring you.”
The teenager looked at her suspiciously, as if trying to figure out what was behind it all.
“Why would you do something like this?”
“Because I thought you'd like it. No one should stop you from visiting your mother.”
Sasha swallowed, but didn't answer. She just looked down, crossing her arms as if to protect herself from the trembling inside her.
Aylin pointed to a small stall just inside the entrance, where several colorful wreaths and bouquets were on display.
“Go buy her some flowers. Whatever you want.”
“What about you?”
“I'm going to the office to confirm exactly where the grave is. I won't be long.”
