"I spent years searching for Serenity, but when I couldn't find her, I started looking for substitutes. As long as a woman had a slight resemblance to the girl I remembered, I would date her," Lucas explained.

Coco was surprised to hear that.

"How many women did you date?" she asked hesitantly.

"I can't remember," he admitted. "I changed girlfriends frequently back then. Sometimes, if things moved quickly, I might switch every month or two."

He then smiled bitterly. "Wasn't I foolish back then?"

His smile made Coco's heart ache, and she gently kissed his hands.
