Alex’s identity was only known to the hospital staff, and they did not spread it around. If word got out, their floor would likely be crowded with young ladies, unnecessarily complicating their work.
Thus, even though they knew Alex was a York, they treated him like any other patient.
The other patients’ families did, however, speculate about Alex’s identity, assuming he must be a successful businessman, since so many people visited him daily and brought him countless fruit baskets.
