Audrey had higher expectations for her eldest daughter-in-law because she believed that the eldest son would take over the family, and the eldest daughter-in-law would become the lady of the house.
If she came from a modest background, Audrey feared she might lack the vision and capability to shoulder the responsibilities of the Stone family.
For her second daughter-in-law, however, Audrey only required good character.
Elisa comforted her mother, “Anthony’s such a great guy. He’ll definitely meet the right girl someday. It’s all about destiny. When it comes for you, you can’t stop it. If it hasn’t, you can’t force it.
“Anthony might just be destined to marry later in life.”
