I spent days trying to smooth things over with Manu. I was sure she suspected something; she was very quiet and kept to herself, always too tired or with her face buried in a book. I decided to take her to spend a weekend at the farm hotel where I took her for her birthday. A weekend just for us, without interruptions. And it was perfect. She started smiling again, and we spent the weekend together, reconnecting, although she still seemed suspicious.
