NATALIE

Ryke took me back home and Zio was already waiting for us in the living room. Britney was sleeping in her room so no one needed to be by her side.

“ Get something out of the Beta. ” Ryke commands Zio as soon as he is close to him.

He could have mind—linked him but he didn’t because he wanted me to know what they are doing now. Ryke has informed me about the whole rogue situation. He has also told me that they caught the so—called Beta, Maxwell of the strange rogue pack.

“ I should stay here and look after Britney. ” Zio sighs, disregarding what his Alpha is saying.

I think this is the first time I have ever seen him talking back instead of uttering ‘Sure Alpha’ or some other nasty remark before getting back to work.

I wrap my arms around myself, watching him closely. Is Britney’s return going to become a problem bigger than I am anticipating? The cruel question is pounding at the back of my mind for a while now.
