Emma was a young culinary school graduate who had endured bullying from everyone around her because of her weight. Her own family was trying to marry her off to the handsome CEO of a prestigious, world-renowned company. Would her personality and beauty be enough to win the heart of the irresistible CEO? Or would the CEO be the one who manages to win over Emma, despite society’s prejudices? Who would fall in love first? Would either of them? And in the end, would they actually make it to the altar?
Leer másEmma's POV "Jealous of what?!" "Of your exes," he said. "I thought you'd invited them and not me. And they're more handsome than I imagined. That made me feel insecure." "And what's with that pout?" I snapped. "Ugh. You just make me mad, Keller. Seriously. What could you possibly feel insecure about?" "About them. I already told you." He sighed. "Anyway, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. Will you forgive me, Emma, beautiful?" "…Fine." - Adam's POV My Emma was upset about how I'd acted today. I knew I'd been possessive. But they had their chance with her and let her go. Now it was my turn, and I wasn't going to let anyone take Emma from me. As I apologized, Emma walked toward the study. The room had a large oak table in the center. I followed her, still asking for forgiveness. I didn't know why she was heading there, but I took the opportunity to wrap my arms around her from behind. Her rose-scented skin and warmth made me feel good, like I was home. She turne
Emma's POV Keller went too far. I appreciated the flowers and all the help, but this whole show of being my fiancé and his jealousy scene was too much. I should have corrected him. I really should have. But remembering how Aaron's and Ashton's parents rejected me stopped me. Let them see that at least one person in the world had committed to this fat girl, even if it was all Adam's invention. I'd figure out later how to deny it or say the so-called engagement had been canceled. "No one else sends me flowers, Adam." "Don't you think you're being a little jealous?" Aaron said, glaring at Adam, who still hadn't let go of me. His arms were tight around my waist, his chin resting against my neck. "Jealous and possessive, yes," Adam replied calmly. "I am. And I have every right to be. Emma will soon be Mrs. Keller, the wife of the CEO of Keller Enterprises. I have to make sure no random guy gets close enough to try to take her from me." "Keller?" Ashton asked sharply. "You m
Emma's POV Seeing them again filled me with sadness. They had never treated me badly. They were sweet, kind, and respectful. But their mothers had treated me horribly just for being fat, and that had burned itself into my memory. I would never forget it. After exchanging a few words with Ashton, I invited him to try my pastries and sit at one of the outdoor tables. Aaron walked over to us and, without asking, sat down too. I hoped they wouldn't start fighting. "Ashton." "Aaron. What are you doing here?" "The same thing you are, I guess. I came to see Emma and congratulate her." My body tensed. These two were going to argue right here. They never liked each other. In the past, I'd dated Ashton first, then Aaron. Just when I thought things couldn't get worse, I heard a warm, sweet voice calling my name from afar. I'd only heard it once before, but that kind of warmth could only belong to one person. "Emma, beautiful. Congratulations. This place looks amazing. The flowers, t
Adam's POV After barely sleeping at all because I couldn't stop thinking about Emma, morning finally caught up with me. I showered, got dressed, and put extra care into my grooming routine. I needed to look and smell impeccable. Today was the grand opening of my Emma's café-pastry shop. "Good morning, handsome." "Good morning, Andrea." "Where are you going all dressed up?" "Didn't I tell you? Emma is opening her café-pastry shop today, and I'm going to the opening." "Are you coming with me?" "Perfect. I'll hurry up and get ready so I look decent." Andrea ran upstairs, clearly excited. I was too. - Emma's POV After that restless night, I got up to get ready, only to realize I had nothing to wear. I showered, then went to my pastry shop. My suitcases were still there. The opening was two hours away, so I grabbed them, took them to the apartment, and changed. I put on a loose white silk dress with short sleeves that fell mid-thigh and had an open back. I slipped in
Emma's POV While I slept, I dreamed. I didn't usually dream, but this time it wasn't just any dream. It was that kind of dream. In it, I was walking through the kitchen wrapped in my bathrobe when a pair of hands slid around my waist. When I turned, those intense blue eyes were there, watching me. Slowly, carefully, his hands loosened the robe until it slipped from my shoulders, leaving me exposed beneath it. He kissed me, deep and unhurried, and I melted into him. My hands explored his arms as his mouth traced a warm path along my neck, sending shivers through me. Everything felt slow, intimate, overwhelming in the best way. My body reacted before my mind could catch up. Heat pooled low in my stomach. My breath came apart in soft sounds I barely recognized as my own. He guided me back toward the bed, laid me down gently, and hovered over me. I remember the weight of him, the closeness, the feeling of being completely seen. At some point I lifted my gaze and caught our refl
Emma's POV Today was exhausting and full of surprises. Between organizing the opening of my café bakery, the hospital visit, my diagnosis and consultation, lunch with Adam, and meeting Andrea, by the time we arrived at the apartment all I wanted to do was sleep. When we reached the neighborhood, I was surprised by the style of the buildings. It was clearly a residential area. As soon as we walked inside the apartment, I froze. Everything was white, with navy blue details in the vases, paintings, and tables. The bed was king-size, and right in front of it was a huge mirror. I didn't like mirrors, and even less one facing the bed. But everything else about the place was perfect. The kitchen was spacious. The furniture was all mahogany. There was a beautiful office surrounded by bookshelves covering every wall, and the smell of old pages was comforting. There were other spaces too, a small greenhouse and a mini garden with a tea table. How much would the rent for a place like th
