Chapter 5

Upon reaching his father's office, Weylin stood there, observing his surroundings.

The walls were painted with grey colour. Most of the furniture seemed to be of limited edition and highly expensive. Weylin chuckled internally upon observing that most of the things were black coloured. Starting from the expensive couch to the shelves, most of the items were black coloured since black was Blake Turner's favourite colour.

His taste is still the same. He can never step down from expensive and luxurious choices. Weylin smiled. He is the leader of 'The Devils' after all.

"How's your business going on?" Blake asked in a serious tone, serious enough to let his son know that he wasn't playing around anymore.

"Everything is fine. My empire is one of the most powerful empires in the USA. I am planning to expand the fame of my organisation even more," Weylin asserted.

"Is it powerful enough to stand against 'The Devils'?"

Blake stood in front of his son, keeping a few inches distance between them. His voice sounded cold enough to make a person go on his knees. His sharp eyes looked directly into Weylin's eyes as if he was staring into his soul.

"Yes." Weylin looked into his father's eyes, gaze devoid of any hesitation. "It's powerful enough to stand against The Devils."

"But not powerful enough to overpower The Devils," Blake added, taking a step back. Returning to the table, he leaned his back on its edge.

"Within the next two years, The Black Panther will be capable enough to take over The Devils," Weylin replied confidently.

"Hm…" Blake nodded. Leaning his back on the edge of the table, he suggested," why don't you become heir to my empire? The Devils will become yours."

"I don't want to lead your organisation, dad. I don't like dealing with the illegal arms business," Weylin protested. "I love what I am doing now."

"I understand, Weylin. But you need to understand that you are supposed to take over my organisation after my retirement. How can I just leave The Devils after it took years to build this entire empire?" Blake Turner sighed, knowing how stubborn his son was.

You can even make mules listen to you but not Weylin Turner. He took after his father when it came to stubbornness.

"Shadow can take care of your organisation. You already trust her too much," Weylin said, voice contoured with jealousy.

"Do you think I didn't ask her? She is as stubborn as you are." Blake messaged his glabella, feeling bothered. "She refused saying that she didn't want to snatch away your rights. She won't listen to me no matter what I do."

"Dad, please don't force me. I am doing very well now and I really don't intend to take the responsibility of 'The Devils'." Weylin said in a gentle tone.

"Speaking of which, Shadow was supposed to report here a minute ago. Why isn't she here yet?" Blake frowned, checking the time on his wristwatch. "She isn't unpunctual."

"Maybe she is busy?" Weylin suggested.

"I am sure she is standing just outside the door," Blake asserted. Turning towards the door, he commanded," come in."

The next moment, the door opened with a creaking sound and a female figure entered the room.

Shadow? Weylin frowned upon seeing the familiar figure.

"Greetings, master and young master," Shadow bowed to the people in front of her with a fist across her chest.

"When you already arrived at the door, why didn't you come in?" Blake Turner asked, crossing his arms across his chest.

"I didn't want to bother the master's conversation with the young master," Shadow replied.

"How thoughtful!" Weylin snickered.

"Any news?" The old master asked, eyes fixed on the masked lady.

"The intruder who entered our mansion disguised as the young master's bodyguard was sent by Felix Brown, the brother of Charles Brown. He was sent to assassinate the young master," Shadow informed, without pausing for a second.

"The Vipers are trying to meddle with the Black Panther?" Blake frowned, rubbing his fingers against his chin. Glancing at the young master, he spoke again. "Weylin Turner, what did you do that led to this mess?"

"Black Panther took over 'The Vipers' yesterday," Weylin replied, shrugging.

"What!?"

Blake frowned while Shadow's eyes almost bulged out upon listening to the new piece of information.

"Charles Brown was killed but Felix Brown escaped," Weylin said seriously. Rubbing his fingers against his thumb, he narrowed his eyes. "That punk dared to play this stunt. Now he has to pay a heavy price."

"That intruder is in the basement area under Mr Chapman's care. Would you like to interrogate him?" Shadow asked.

"No need." Letting out a sigh, Weylin looked away, disinterested.

"I think it will be better to interrogate him once. You might get all the required information," Blake Turner advised, standing in front of the younger people.

"No need, dad. I fixed everything," Weylin smiled reassuringly, trying to make his father believe in his words.

"Then he is not needed anymore," Shadow's voice sounded as cold as ice while her masked face seemed expressionless. Her words were clear enough to let a person know what her intentions were.

Turning towards the door, she was about to leave when a manly voice stopped her.

"I didn't ask you to get rid of him," Weylin smirked as he walked towards the lady. "Shall we go together?"

"As you wish, young master." The woman nodded slightly.  Turning towards Blake Turner, she bowed. "I am taking my leave, master."

With a smile, Blake Turner nodded. Weylin slightly bowed before both of them left the room.

"Is that jerk still alive?" Walking beside Shadow, Weylin asked even though he knew the answer.

"Yes. I cannot let him die before you interrogate. He must be in a bad condition, but he is alive. Isn't that enough for a bastard who dared to break into 'The Devils' mansion and dared to assassin the leader or 'The Black Panther'?" Shadow replied, walking without glancing at the young master.

"Hm," Weylin nodded. "By the way, why don't you remove your mask? Doesn't it feel stuffy?"

"No," Shadow responded, glancing at the young master. "I am not supposed to show my face."

"Why is that so?" Suddenly Weylin stood before the lady, blocking her way. Leaning towards her, keeping a few inches away from her face, he added. "Are you scared that I'll fall for you?"

"The Young master won't fall for an average woman like me," Shadow chuckled, taking a step sideways before she continued walking. "Judging from your personality, I can say that the young master likes someone who is his equal, doesn't he?"

Laughing, Weylin said," you are obviously an interesting person. I would really like to know more about you." He flashed a flirty smile as he walked along with her.

"Then try to find it yourself," Shadow smirked.

Weylin internally chuckled, feeling the woman's smirk behind her mask. He was following her when she suddenly stopped walking. He glanced at her.

"Young master, we are here," Shadow announced.

Putting her hand on the handle of the door, she pushed it. Opening the door, she walked in, followed by the young master. No sooner did his eyes fall on the man who was tied to the chair than his jaws slacked.

"What is this!?"
