“Wait…” she shifted in his arms.
Rousse knew what she meant and lifted her instantly, laying the woman’s body gently on the small bed.
“I shouldn’t stay out of her for too long… I’m afraid she could die at any moment,” she said with a sigh, dragging her shadow out of the girl, who was breathing alarmingly slow.
“That’s fine, but I couldn’t take not seeing you or kissing you anymore.”
He wrapped his arms around Meridiana the second she materialized.
Rousse had also shed the fierce undead appearance, returning to something that resembled the man he once was.
He’d discovered he could switch his looks, which was a blessing.
