Marius stayed with his head down for a few seconds.

Struggling to hide the hatred in his eyes.

“Well... at least I got to fantasize about a woman as incredible as you,” he said, lifting his head with a sigh.

The smile on his lips didn’t reach his eyes.

“We’re with you, Victoria. I hate the wolves... but I trust your sense of justice. I’ll gather the vampires beneath the sewers.”

He gave her a slight bow and walked away like a man whose heart had just been crushed.

He and Edgar would leave on their own.

Rousse came closer, stepping out from the cover of the trees.

The rain had stopped and was dripping down his dark clothes.

“I don’t trust that vampire,” he muttered while helping Miss Victoria to her feet.

That stunt she pulled had been madness; if she hadn’t been strong enough, she could’ve been dragged into the world of the dead.

“I know,” she replied with a sly gleam in her eye. “Keep an eye on him. I have a feeling he’s going to do something stupid.”
