The danger was behind us, and we moved forward into an unknown place.

“Rousse, stay alert for any traps.”

I whispered in his mind, narrowing my pupils in the darkness.

The true intentions of this good Samaritan were still to be revealed.

The tunnel twisted and branched into a network that led to other unknown areas.

Finally, a breeze stirred the musty stench of the walls, and the vampire in front of me jumped toward an exit.

“Come, I’ll help you.” He reached his hand out to help me out of the high tunnel.

I looked at him for a second, straight into those reddish eyes.

He was a very handsome man, despite the sharp angles caused by his thinness.

I reached out, and he helped me down.

The motion made me fall against his chest, brushing against him by accident.

It only lasted a moment, but I felt him sniffing my hair.
