The next day, I felt like I'd been run over by a truck again and again. Every muscle ached, my head throbbed with a dull pressure, and my body felt heavy, like it didn't fully belong to me. I forced myself out of bed. I didn't have a choice. I stepped into the shower and let the hot water run down my back, hoping it would wash away at least some of the confusion from the night before.
