Caleb swallowed the saliva that was starting to rise up from his throat.

'Okay,' he thought, 'it looks like this woman called Serenity Lewis that I just met might very likely marry into the Valor family one day and become Mrs. Valor."

"She seems to be a very lucky woman," Caleb muttered.

"No," Jackson denied in a soft voice, "I'm the lucky one."

Or to put it more precisely, it was her misfortunes that had turned him into a lucky man. Had that car crash not happened back then, perhaps Serenity would already be married to Zeke Shaw and have had kids with Zeke by now, and she would never be caught in the terrible situation she was in when she had first met Jackson.

And he would then never discover the bliss he would feel whenever he was with her.

Caleb was stunned when he heard this. At that moment, he had a hunch that Serenity already had Jackson wrapped around her finger!

Serenity took a glass of champagne from the waiter and sipped it. Because it was low in alcohol and had
