Byron was taken aback. Then, he quickly regained his composure and turned to meet his gaze. "Deal."
Xander was dissatisfied. "Only verbally? Any concrete evidence? Without evidence, how do I know if you’ll make good on your word? Although I believe in your character, I’ve worked hard to get this antidote. If you deceive me, won’t I be made a fool?”
Byron frowned slightly. "What evidence do you want?"
Xander raised his eyebrows adamantly. "A marriage certificate, of course. It's a bit late now, and the Civil Affairs Bureau is probably off working hours. However, if you issue a public statement now, I'm willing to accept it."
