Traffic was light late into the night. They arrived at the Flemming residence after about ten minutes or so.
Sonny parked the car but did not honk. It was late, and the neighbors had gone to bed. Honking would have disturbed them.
Outdoor lamps lit up the yard, and the lights were still on in the main building. Sonny guessed Kaden had not gone to sleep yet and was waiting for his granddaughter’s return.
He turned to wake Everly. “Ms. Flemming, we’re here.”
Everly woke up almost immediately.
