“Just give up. Please stop sending me flowers and gifts. I won’t accept them.
“If you’ve been coming here for my sake, I’d rather you didn’t in the future. If you’re here to consult with my uncle, that’s your business, but I won’t be entertaining you. Who I marry is my own decision. No elder in my family, whoever they may be, can decide for me.”
Essentially, she was telling Kent to stop trying to win over her uncle and aunt. It was useless to cozy up to them.
They were only her uncle and aunt, not her parents.
Even her own parents could not force her to date or marry someone.
Though her parents and older brother occasionally urged her to start a relationship, they had also made it clear that it was her choice. They would offer their opinion, but the final decision rested with her.
Kent looked at her.
His eyes held a pleading expression. He reached out, wanting to take Sheila’s hand, but she avoided him.
