Ivor did not think highly of Kent.

After learning about Kent’s family situation, he was even more opposed to his sister being with him.

Their parents were concerned about their daughter’s future, but they had also said not to settle—to keep their eyes wide open, to see the other person’s character clearly, and not to compromise just because she was getting older and feeling anxious.

Marriage was a decision that would affect the rest of her life, so there was no room for settling.

“Ivor, does Sheila have someone she likes already?

“Wait, I know there’s a classmate of hers who also likes her a lot. Did she accept him?” Kent asked anxiously.

Had he not been vigilant enough, despite watching for two years?

Did someone else snatch Sheila away before he could?

That should not be the case. If someone else was pursuing Sheila, there was no way the Joneses did not know. Plus, he came here so often, so he could not possibly not know either.
