During the meal, Laurent kept putting more food on his son’s plate as a way to try to make it up to him.

The little boy’s plate was piled high with the food his father had given him. He finally looked up at his father and protested, “Dad, I can get my own food. I’m really good with the fork and spoon now, and I can serve myself.”

He was very capable of taking care of himself. His aunt Jane often praised him, saying he was even more capable than his cousin Connor.

Laurent smiled. “Don't you like the food Dad picked for you?”

“It’s not that I don’t like it, it’s that you keep putting food on my plate. I can’t eat that fast, and now my plate is full. If you want to give me more food, you should wait until I’ve finished what’s on my plate first.

“You should also get food for Mom. We agreed that we’d protect and care for Mom together.”

Thus, Dad should not only give him food but also give it to Mom.

Suzy affectionately patted her son’s head. “Jay is such a good boy.”
