“Heaf.”
Lil’ Pie’s ability to express herself was still limited. She wanted to go look for her brother but could not articulate it fully. Still, just saying his name was enough for Mom to understand what she meant.
Serenity smiled. “Let’s finish packing first, then we’ll go wake your brother up. Or how about, you go wake him up yourself?”
Lil’ Pie nodded.
Serenity carried Callia to the door, opened it for her, then set her down so the little girl could toddle off to knock on her brother’s door. Meanwhile, Serenity returned to packing.
Most of their things had already been packed the evening before. Now, it was just a matter of putting away the toys Lil’ Pie had played with last night.
Oh, and she needed to prepare a bottle of milk for Lil’ Pie first. After feeding her, she could pack away the formula and bottles.
Lil’ Pie stood outside her brother's door, patting it insistently while calling out, “Heaf, Heaf.”
Heath had sharp ears. The knocking and his sister’s voice roused him
