Nicole had told me Olivia's boyfriend's name was James Smith. But the well-dressed man with glasses and an intellectual air went by Alonso Lopez. Or maybe not. His real name hardly mattered now.

Alonso's own boss had turned him in, which already said a lot about the man. Contrary to what I'd expected, he wasn't in a nightclub or some high-end brothel. He was in a bookstore, disguised as a nerd. It was the perfect way to find victims, offering them an easy sense of trust.
