“What’s going on here?” I asked, my voice sharper than I intended.

They froze. Sofia's boyfriend immediately stepped back, looking surprised. Sofia took a big step away from him, her lips swollen.

“Lisa…” Sofia began, then stopped. She was happy that she had arrived on time.

Her boyfriend ran a hand through his hair. “It’s not what it looks like.”

I let out a short laugh. “Really? Because it looks exactly like you dragged her into a room and were kissing her while she tried to get away.”
