This police station is wonderful; there's never a dull day. I'd been here for a month, and I'd adapted well to my new job, and my staff seemed to like the way I worked. Not to mention that my partnership with Chief Bonfim was excellent. We became friends and helped each other immensely; he treated me like a son. He was a very dignified man, with a clean record and an unblemished reputation. What bothered me was that I hadn't met this Junqueira guy yet.
"Hey, Chief! Good morning!" I walked into Bonfim's office with a box of cheese croissants that I knew he loved.
