The door swung open and a human resource manager came in. She was about forty years old and dressed up in full formal attire. Sitting across the table, she flipped through Zoe’s resume half-heartedly.

After a brief moment, she raised her head and asked, “Do you know any foreign languages?”

Pursing her lips, Zoe said, “Yeah. I know a few!”

The manager pulled out a document and handed it to her. She said dryly, “This document is written in English, French, and German. Read it out loud.”
