The call lasted forty-three seconds.
He wanted a meeting. Just the two of them. He'd used the phrase "if you value what you have" deliberately. Everything Daniel Shaw did was deliberate. He'd already established that.
Then he hung up before either of them could reply.
Faye hadn't moved from the counter. Her arms were crossed, her eyes still on the phone.
"He wants a meeting," I said and hung up the phone.
"I heard him," she said softly. "What could he possibly want from
