Layla sighed. "Mommy! Let's not talk about homework! I've already finished everything, but I don't know whether it's correct. No one checks my homework when you're not at home."

"Didn't I find a tutor for you? I'll call her later and ask her to check it for you."

"Oh..." Layla had been enjoying herself so much for the past two months and homework was the last thing on her mind.

Avery looked at her daughter's little face and said, "Do you want to see Daddy, Layla?"

She had caught a glimpse of Elliot staring at her from the corner of her eye.

He must have wanted to see Layla.

As soon as Layla heard the word 'Daddy', she looked as shocked as a frightened kitten and frowned immediately, "I don't want to see him! He's a meanie! The worse meanie! You wouldn't leave me if it wasn't for him, and I wouldn't be this unhappy!"

Avery did not know how to answer.

"Mommy, why did you ask me if I wanted to see him? Is he just beside you?" Layla asked suddenly after lambasting Elliot earlier.
