Elvin took Britney away, and she followed him, tugging at the corner of his shirt as she sobbed with snot building up in her nose.

Once they'd reached a corner, Elvin freed his shirt from her grip and looked at her seriously. "Who's your stepmother?"

Britney shook her head and said sadly, "I don't want a stepmother."

Elvin said impatiently, "I'm asking you, who is going to become your stepmother?"

Britney sniffled. "It's Aunt Ariel. She said she's going to become my Mommy."
