"Don't be nervous."
Kendrick scrutinized each and every one of Cory's subordinates. "I'm just handing in my weapon first to show that I'm really here to talk."
Cory's gaze darkened. He didn't buy a single word Kendrick said.
This wasn't showing sincerity. This was a threat.
Moreover, he knew that Kendrick had come prepared. He surely had far more men than the ones in the room.
All of these thoughts ran through Cory's mind in a short time. After analyzing the situation, he calmed down.
He looked at the pistol. "Tell me. What do you want to talk to me about?"
"Let's talk about our misunderstanding."
Kendrick played with the pistol and said distractedly, "You and I know that we have to end things sooner or later, but before that, I feel that there is a need to clear the air.
"I don't want either one of us to die in vain if we have to fight to the death in the future."
Kendrick always had this thought on his mind. He wasn't afraid of death, but he didn't want to die in vain.
