Chapter 162 —Night of Confessions

Aylin didn't move. She stared at him for a long second that felt like a complete confession. Then she approached him and placed a hand on his shoulder. Eros didn't dare look up.
"Don't lie to me again, Eros. I'm not your mother. I'm not your enemy. But I'm not an idiot either.“ He nodded without speaking. ”Do you think you did the right thing by helping him?“
”Yes,“ said Eros, finally looking up. ”Because I saw how Sasha was crying inside. And I saw how he was destroying himself without showing it. And because, even though he didn't ask me directly, I knew he trusted me. And I didn't want to let him down."
Aylin swallowed hard. She saw him so determined, so different from the teenager she had left behind, that for a second she had trouble recognizing him.
