Chapter 109 —The performance was about to begin.

Amelia served breakfast in the kitchen. Sasha was already sitting next to Aylin. Roman took a sip of coffee, set the cup on the table, and looked at the maid.

“Amelia, leave us alone for a moment.”

She nodded silently and left, closing the door behind her. Roman looked at them both.

Roman leaned slightly toward the table and placed his coffee cup on the saucer with a calm but firm gesture. He looked at his daughter, who was buttering a piece of toast without paying much attention to him, and then glanced briefly at Aylin, who already knew what was coming.

“Actually... we want to talk to you, Sasha.”

The teenager looked up immediately. She stood still, knife suspended in the air, eyes wide. She blinked, as if the air suddenly felt different.

“Did I do something wrong?”

Her voice came out a little higher, alert. She looked from one to the other, as if expecting imminent scolding.
