His eyes took on the gentlest light. "Alright, I will not. But, you understand my message right?"

"The only t-thing I understand is that you're touching me willingly. And you're h-hunching in front of me with a d-dirty scarred part of me in your kingly hands. And you're sending me away."

"No part of you is dirty, Vetta. Not to me." Done with her legs, he let them go.

She wiped her tears, staring at her ugly legs. "I can't be Anarieveta ever again. Cone made sure of that. You don't know half of the things I've done, My King. Or what it's like, leaving in a head like mine."

"I have a good idea, because I know what it's like leaving in a head like mine. You can always be Anarieveta again, you know why? The things you did do not define you." He took her hand and placed it on her chest, "What defines you is your here. Your heart d

beeclearly, you're not reading well...
Michele Gremillionking is right when he told vetta she needed to look beyond the fact danika was cones daughter and see who danika really is. the king did that and that's why he fell in luv with danika.
Michele Gremillionwe new she always sacrificed for the king. we just know the extent of her sacrifice till now. she could never let the past go. she buried it deep inside her causing all her darkness to come out.
cathy knoblauchIf you guys read it Vetta had said she didn't care about the previous pregnancies because they were from rapes. She didn't care about the pregnancy from Karandy. She only cared when she couldn't get pregnant anymore. Why hate Danika though when she didn't choose to be a slave or who her father was
personalaccI know what vetta did cruel things , but she really is a victim there is no denying in that , it's just that we are learning that at the end of the book bcoz the author wanted to give us a plot twist.
personalaccbut suddenly the daughter of her tormenter comes into their lifes, If I was her I would hate dhanika too , it's understandable of her hatred towards dhanika bcoz according to her pov she is the girl who took the only thing she ever has and cared for.
personalaccshe was punished for 10 years for something that she didn't even do, she was tortured , raped , beated, forced to kill people and much more worse in all these years and on top of that she lost 2 pregnencies because of cone , still the one thing she hold onto was the love she has for king Lucien.
October CoCoSeriously…Vetta’s getting away like this after all she’s done? I reread the book from the very beginning, it seemed pretty clear Vetta wasn’t in love with the King. She just wanted the power and that’s what she only cared. I don’t understand why out of the blue she is being framed like a victim

October CoCoCan’t agree more. I am sooo annoyed... Vetta should get punished for what she’s done!
moonchildvetta gets soooo much better treatment from king lucien than the supposed love of his life, danika. i read somewhere that author's most favorite character is vetta. commenter might have that spot on.
Chris WThat was my thought!...
