Back at the office, Roman was in the middle of a meeting with Claudia and the head of security. When he saw my face, he stood up so quickly that his chair hit the wall.

"What happened?"

Eva told him everything, every detail. Roman listened with clenched fists and a furrowed brow.

"There's more," Eva said. "Benjamin called her. It felt like a threat. Isabella gave me the recording."

"How long have you had this?" asked Roman, with a hint of anger I had never seen before.

"Since last night," I replied. "I was going to hand it over today. I never thought they would move so quickly."

"You also didn't think that warning me beforehand could prevent it," he replied, too bluntly.

"They acted within hours," I said, swallowing my pride. "I thought I'd have time. I was wrong."

"Red protocols from now on."
