CHAPTER 14 ²

I can feel the tension in the air. Though I can’t see Kate’s face, I know she’s uncomfortable.

"Follow me, it’s time to go," she says hurriedly, and I trail after her, ignoring the guy who helped me earlier.

I follow her in complete silence, passing by countless people I can’t identify. In situations like this, I hate the damn suppressor implant they stuck me with. Before I realize it, we’ve reached the entrance, and the chauffeur is waiting in front of me and Kate with the car door already open, as if he knew we were leaving. It’s all so strange. Even though I can’t smell anything right now, I feel like this isn’t the same person who brought us here. Or am I imagining things?

"What are you waiting for, Violet? Get in," Kate asks, snapping me out of my thoughts. "It’s time to go. I can’t wait to get away from this nest of snakes." She looks at the place with disgust and anger.
