I don’t know how many hours we’ve been in the air, but sleeping has been a bit uncomfortable with the cast on my forearm. I look at everything that’s happened with irritation and try to distract myself from the discomfort it causes me. The desperation from being stuck on this plane for so long makes me want to ask how much time has passed, but honestly, I don’t really care that much either. I just hope that when I get off here, I can go to bed—I need to rest comfortably.
“Is everything okay?” an unfamiliar voice asks, pulling me out of my gray cloud. My bad mood has only worsened, and I prefer to stay silent rather than engage.
“This place is going to be amazing for you, Violet,” Kate assures me, overly enthusiastic, trying to pass her energy onto me. But she doesn’t succeed.
