Morris was surprised by what Jacqueline said next.

“Don’t do this next time. Don’t get yourself hurt trying to protect a watch.”

“But… It was an expensive watch from Frederick.”

“It’s nothing but a watch!” Jacqueline said, “My Mommy told me that if you're ever robbed, the most important thing isn’t protecting your stuff, but protecting yourself. Because you’re what’s most important!”

After a pause, she continued seriously, "So, Morris, if something like this happens again, make sure to protect yourself first!"

"But the watch..."

"You’re much more important than a watch!" she said. "I don’t like seeing you get hurt, Morris."

Morris was flustered but also extremely happy to hear that. He wondered if it meant that he was important to Jacqueline too.

Soon, they arrived at the hospital. Fortunately, Morris’s injuries weren’t serious. He would be fine after applying some ointment for a few days.

Jacqueline breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness! The doctor said you’ll heal
