“Great-Nana, where did you go?”
Callia wrapped her arms around Grandma May’s neck. “The past two mornings, I couldn’t find you when I woke up.”
At night, she would look for her mother. During the day, she looked for her great-grandmother.
“I had something to take care of, so I went out. But starting tomorrow—yes, tomorrow—when you wake up, you’ll see me again.” Grandma May added fondly, “From now on, whenever I go out, I’ll bring you with me, okay? I won’t leave you home alone anymore.”
