Kevin shouted. “Lil’ Pie’s back.”

The band of little boys, including little Jeremy, who was only two years old, immediately started running toward the main building.

Unfortunately, little Jeremy’s legs were too short to run quickly and he was soon left far behind the older boys, which made him cry out anxiously, “Wait for me, guys. Guys! Wait for me!”

The older boys did not wait for him, which made him burst out crying, though that did not stop him from doing his best to catch up to them.

His nanny came forward to pick him up and wipe away his tears. She comforted, “Master Jeremy, we can take our time. There’s no rush. Since Ms. Lil’ Pie is back, she’ll definitely stay here tonight. You’ll see her all the same even if you get in a little later.”

Lil’ Pie normally stayed in Wildridge Manor and was taken care of by Grandma May and the others.
