Serenity, who had been observing River and Rosalie, suddenly said something shocking. “You two can go get a marriage license. You’re already calling him your husband anyway. Might as well get married and make it real.”

“Me? An old hag? I’m still young. You, on the other hand, are an old man in your thirties.”

Serenity said, “An old man and an old hag are a match made in heaven.”

River and Rosalie turned to look at Serenity again.

River said, “Don’t make a joke about me and her, Serenity. I’d rather marry anyone else but her.”

“You sound as if I’m eager to get married to you. I’d rather remain single for the rest of my life than be your wife.”
