The only thing I could still do was work nonstop. It was a great way to silence the dark thoughts. And at night, I swallowed enough sleeping pills to knock myself out so I wouldn't have to think about Isaac, get in my car, and end up at his door in the middle of the night, begging for forgiveness. Every day that passed made it harder to defend the choices I'd made.
