While the others went to solve the problem they'd caused with Sam, I went to talk to my mother. I needed to stop Reinaldo, but I couldn't do that without talking to her and Hebe. So I invited her to lunch.
"But look what a wonderful son I have! He came back from a trip three days ago and only now called me!" my mother complained jokingly as soon as she arrived.
"Mom, but I invited you to lunch at your favorite restaurant." I kissed her and pulled out her chair for her.
"Oh, you're forgiven!" she smiled. "How was your trip, son? Did you get your head together?"
"That too, and you did some great business."
"You took a long time to get back."
"I hope I didn't take too long. I heard Sam is seeing someone."
"She loves you, my son. If she's seeing someone, fight for her." Or are you going to give up that easily?
"No, I'm not." I smiled.
The waiter approached, and we ordered. My mother watched me calmly, but with that look of a mother who knows when her child wants something.
