After the whirlwind of my father's visit, I needed a few minutes to cool off. I called my mom and told her he was in town. She immediately told me she was going on a trip because she didn't want to see him. At lunchtime, she told me she was going on a trip with a group of ladies to a spa, which she said was amazing. I thought it was better that way; she'd already suffered enough.

Late in the afternoon, Enzo came into my office, all excited. Melissa stood up to greet him, but of course,
