It was very difficult to calm Heitor down. When I called to tell him what happened at the diner, he wanted me to resign immediately, and convincing him that I was safe within the company took a long time.

I knew he would rush out of the office to go to my place again; this was happening all too often. But fortunately, it was already late in the day, so his work wouldn't be left on the back burner again because of me.

Heitor arrived in less than half an hour, leaned against my desk, and looked me in the eye, his irritation palpable.

"Samantha, this thing about you working and exposing yourself to danger didn't sit well with me before, and being pregnant makes me even less happy. We should rethink this." Heitor rested both hands on my desk and began to explain what was bothering him.

"And you intend for me to stay locked up at home?" I asked calmly. "Because that's not going to happen."

"Sam!" Hector threw himself into the chair in front of my desk, completely frustrated. "I
