01 - Laws

Hideaway - 1440.

Peaceful life was pleasant for those who were tired of witnessing death and never being taken away. Perhaps because they are too strong, perhaps because they simply want to live.

Hideaway was a world ruled by men, and that women were only used to give heirs to their husbands. But Lilian was different. A vampire princess, daughter of the current leader of all races. She did not like the title of princess, she preferred to be seen as a warrior.

She prided herself on the red tint of her hair, because it looked like blood. Although it burned her pink skin in the sun, it always returned to its natural tone. The calluses on his hands showed all his effort during training. Lilian liked to train and her favorite weapon was the spear.

- I have a gift for you - said Nicolau, the older brother and future leader of the breeds, approaching, interrupting Lilian's daily training and handing her a package.

- A dagger? Really? - Lilian raised her eyebrows and smiled mocking the gift - Thank you, but what good is such a small weapon for me ? He took it in hand and handled it as he did with the spear.

- You only train long-distance battles - Said the brother avoiding blows - What if one day you have to fight hand-to-hand? It can be useful to you. - To fight? - Asked Lilian ending his movements - Against whom? Squirrels?

Nicolau was looking at her thoughtfully and then she went on.

- Good times were those of our grandfather. There were blood, screams and pleas for mercy, today it's just blood and sex - She rolled her eyes.

- Don't forget the wine - Nicolau joked - Those humans know how to make good wine - He licked his lips.

- Ah! Yes, the wine - Lilian smiled.

- And why are you complaining about sex? - Nicolau asked wryly - Isn't Michele no longer satisfying you?

Lilian moved quickly positioning her brother's back, one hand covered his mouth and the other carried the dagger to his neck. - Shiu ! If anyone finds out, I'm dead - she whispered.

Nicolau murmured a few words that came out muffled.

- Two females cannot breed.

- Ah! That's right - Lilian said, releasing her brother - You know you're right - He admired the dagger - It can really be useful to me - She smiled and put it away between the robes close to the hips - Why are you here? Shouldn't it be in the harvest?

- I do not need to go and you know, by the way, we both do not need to. - Thanks to Michele - Lilian whispered.

Count Vladmir's castle was on top of a mountain, the highest on the island of Lalfheim . In the room of the tallest tower you could have a clear view from any direction you were looking. The way to the castle was difficult to access, there was no road, only trees and rocks, but for vampires it didn't matter, since they could jump long distances.

Nicolau was the eldest son, the father's pride, and to whom the secrets of the continent would be passed. Like his father, he followed the rules and customs without disagreeing, in order to inherit the leadership in the future.

He never argued or disappointed his family. But he hid the fact that he disagreed with some laws and rules, to keep the figure of a good boy he closed his eyes to some actions.

On his way home, he saw a witch carrying a human baby. The third female. Humans had portions not to produce more children than allowed on the island, but witches continued to take them. They were in times of peace and for the same to continue everyone made sacrifices, including handing over their own daughters for slaughter.

Nicolau knew that before eliminating a child, witches experimented on them, and it was preferable that they were alive. But he couldn't interfere, he just ignored the atrocity before his eyes. Closing them and moving on was her only option.

In the castle, the weather was not pleasant, a sudden and unexpected news made the Count nervous.

- Five servants of the Bhatair family ran out of blood today, could someone explain to me what happened? - Asked Vladmir, while massaging his forehead, worried.

Harvest day is when vampires gather on Lalfheim Island to suck the blood of the years. For every five vampires, one human offers his or her veins. And this ritual takes place once a week.

Nicolau was not ready to take control of everything, but he was always present in the affairs of the vampire breed.

- Is there a problem, my father? - Nicolau asked after a bow. With a hand gesture, the count ordered the subordinate responsible for counting to leave.

- They are denying us the blood - Vladmir replied - I already expected this, soon humans can rebel. Today they left five vampires hungry, next harvest could be ten, and I can’t do anything, I need to keep the peace.

- Are you sure there was no recent death, my father? The count may be wrong.

- No human would die without my knowing it. They are hiding. In ancient times they would not even dare to leave us without food - said the count after a sigh - But now with the peace agreement we can do nothing.

- How can I not? - asked Lilian entering the room after hearing part of the conversation. We are the strongest species. We can force them.

- Lilian, show respect to the count - Nicolau said.

Despite being the father, it was a tradition that everyone, including his wife and children, bowed to the leader. Vladmir was an attentive father and did not insist on so many honors, but he had to maintain his authority.

- It is not as easy as it looks - Said Vladmir - We could force them, but that will not guarantee our future food. If we force a human to give us more than he can, he will surely die, or he would not be fully recovered by the next harvest, and vampires would have to wait even longer to quench their thirst.

- Humans are not so stupid, my father, there is no need to worry - Nicolau said, taking the floor - They know they need us in charge, to protect them. They are not feeding us, they are exchanging their blood for protection.

-- I still think we should force them, it is better to prevent before the rebellion begins - said Lilian..

- Why don't you leave this matter to the men of the family to resolve? - Said Nicolau looking at her seriously. He hated having to use violence, the total opposite of Lilian.

- As you order, future leader - She said with irony - I hope that this agreement will remain standing until your reign, but if it does not, the girl here will be prepared for a war, if it starts.

Lilian's look made Vladmir rethink all the laws, but it was not up to him to change them. Vladmir was already close to two hundred years old, for a vampire, he was in the middle of life that he was allowed. He was not prepared, nor did he want to start a war.

Lilian was most of the time rebellious, revolted by the injustices that were done to women. She wanted to have the right to speak at meetings, but no one listened to her, she wanted to stop being a shadow, but no one paid any attention to her. However, she continued to train, even on her own, to be prepared for a possible future battle.

On the other hand, Nicolau was like his father, no matter what the means, he  wanted to keep the peace. He trained as much as his sister, but he had no desire to see piles of corpses at his feet.

The young vampire sought to investigate the human's disappearance on his own. He wanted to help his father, who was already burdened with such responsibility. He strolled through the village and watched the humans. He was looking for something suspicious, something that would answer his questions.

The houses were low, made of mud and straw. The poorly cared for humans lived each for themselves. Some were well dressed in the rags the vampires made available, others did not mind even taking a shower. Surrounded by high mountains and two dangerous forests . The priority was to survive as long as possible, even if it was just cattle.

- Good morning Mr. Nicolau - Michele greeted the vampire when he saw him leaving the village.

Unlike the other residents of the village, Michele always had a smile and a light of hope on her face, no one understood why. Nicolau liked his personality, it was his favorite snack.

She carried a basket of vegetables with her that seemed heavy to her skinny arms. The young man came over looking at the surroundings and making sure that no one saw them.

- Good morning Michele - Said taking the basket from her hands.

- What are you doing so early in the village? - asked the girl - Yesterday was the harvest and I didn't see him.

- Thanks to you, I don't need to queue - He said, but still with a distant look, which worried the young woman.

- Did something happen?

Nicolau sighed, leaving the girl confused.

The small dirt road that gave access to the village shortened with each step and Nicolau returned without any success in his research.

- I'm concerned about humans - he said.

- With humans? - she asked, confused - I predict that you will be a great leader, because you care even about cattle. I wanted to be a vampire, to be able to witness his reign days. I'm sure it will make big changes in the world.

- At least I want to be able to have the same strength as my father.

- Yes, I heard that the count was a brave warrior in his youth.

- I do not mean that kind of strength, but the one that you use every day to  support the weight of responsibilities.

The girl smiled and took a long step in front of him, touching the vampire's face gently.

- You are different from the others.

- You are also different from humans. You are the only one who can smile, who can see the other side of things. And your blood ... is the most delicious I've ever tasted.

The hand slowly came up to caress his face and landed on his lips. Her eyes looked at her with thirst, but it was not the same bloodlust. Then the hand slid to the back of the neck and pulled her in for a kiss. Michele was easily seduced by the young vampire's words, but he also felt like a victim, mesmerized by the sweet scent of Michele's blood.

...

An old barn was a favorite place for secret meetings. Nobody would dare to stroll through that region, since it was very close to the poisonous forest . Residents were forced to leave before they lost their lives to the veined fog that overflowed from the forest of death. Witches sucked all the energy out of that part of nature, and now poisonous gases were coming out of the ground.

- Your blood looks more and more tasty - said Nicolau, releasing Michele's neck and licking his lips.

- Then don't stop - She whispered in his ear, as she slid onto his lap, pressing harder and harder on her sexual organs.

Accommodated in the hay pile abandoned by the former residents, the couple enjoyed the moment alone. The pulsating vein in Michele's neck was ruptured, but instead of pain, whispers of pleasure could be heard, feeling the touch of the vampire's hands as they descended the rags in search of other places to bite.

- Is my blood really as good as you say? - She asked, clinging to the vampire's body. His legs looked like two huge snakes hugging him.

- If you could feel with our taste ... - Nicolau moved his hips below the girl making her moan - ... You would know how delicious it is.

It was an old and very old barn, but it held many memories, especially libidinous.

One of the laws prohibited the relationship between different breeds. Mestizos were not welcome. Nicolau knew what he did and how he did it, he had no intention of disappointing his father and tarnishing the family name, but he had Michele as a great friend and excellent sexual partner.

- I need to find out what happened to the missing human - he said, after they finished their sexual act and put on their clothes.

- I wish I could help you - said Michele.

- I know, but now you need to take care of yourself, go home and take care of it - He pointed to the break in the young woman's neck.

The farewell was never long, and that day it was even faster, as Nicolau was in a hurry to continue his investigation. Michele already had her chores in the village, but she made a brief return to the barn and collected some of the vampire's semen that was still on the straws.

...

The night was the perfect camouflage for Count Vladmir's castle, its pointed towers could easily be compared to mountain peaks. The only thing that was striking about the castle was Nicolau's bloodstained clothes and the smell of sex that hung wherever he went.

- Sorry, my father, I couldn't resist since she offered me so willingly - Nicolau said with his head down before his parents.

- A young woman - said Amelia, her mother, closing her eyes - So that's why you didn't go to the harvest? Why do you already have your personal blood source? And judging the smell impregnated in you, it's not just blood that she offers you.

- Do not think wrong of me, my mother - said Nicolau - I would not dare to get involved with humans to the point of generating mestizos. I always dump my seeds out.

- it seems to me that this is not the first time - The count's eyes narrowed.

- Not my father.

- Don't meet this girl again, our breed thanks you - Said the mother.

It was not like Nicolau to break the law, but encounters with Michele were almost a necessity. The young vampire felt suffocated in those walls surrounded by laws and traditions. However, he was not the only one, Lilian also shared that body, Michele's blood and desires. The human was the favorite snack of the Flowster brothers.

- What have you been doing? - Lilian asked, approaching him on the way to the room.

Nicolau did not seem to want to talk, but Lilian insisted, standing in front of him, blocking the passage.

- I was on an investigation - Nicolau replied, sighing.

- And what did you find out?

- Michele's blood tastes better and better - Nicolau smiled, teasing her.

He knew how much the sister hated the actions of men. He licked his  lips, as if he still had Michele's blood in his mouth. Lilian gave him a pass, disgusted, but the smell on her brother's clothes made her curious.

The next morning, she did not hesitate to pay a visit to the human. As usual, Michele carried a large, heavy basket of vegetables, which she had just picked. The vegetable garden was outside the village and the young woman always took a long walk.

- Isn't that too much for your fragile body? - Lilian asked, taking the basket from the girl.

- Princess Lilian? - Michele looked at her in surprise, did not expect a visit from her after she had served her brother the day before. The young woman would need to replace her blood or she would end up dying.

- I told you not to call me princess - Lilian frowned.

- Forgiveness - Michele bowed her head.

- All right. It's just ... It looks so ... Fragile. That word doesn't suit me. Or do you think I'm weak?

- No way - Michele replied - On the contrary, I have never met a woman so strong. I feel jealous and even find myself wishing I was like you. I apologize for that too.

Lilian looked at her with pity, a rare thing coming from a vampire. She stepped forward holding onto Michele's face and lifted him looking into her eyes. - Don't ask for forgiveness for wanting to be strong - she said.

- It is easy for you, it is a vampire, the strongest race. You have the strength and power to do what you want. Do you have any idea what I would do if I were a vampire? - Michele's eyes shone, it looked like she was going to cry at any moment, but she held back her tears.

- You don't know your own strength - Lilian said, and the girl looked at her confused - You are strong in your own way. Within your limits.

These were not the words Michele expected to hear, and that conversation was not in his plans either. No matter what they said, it would remain their food.

- Well, that's not why I came here - Said Lilian changing the subject - We haven't met in a long time. And yesterday Nicolau came home with a very pleasant aroma. I believe it is yours.

- You mean, my blood? - Michele asked suspiciously. - You need to take care of yourself, you cannot be feeding my brother whenever he wants. The harvest was not long ago, you need to recover, even if my brother is your favorite vampire.

- No! - Michele interrupted her - I don't have a favorite, nor could I. I like them both equally.

Lilian looked at her with a provocative look, looking for where, in the girl's body, Nicolau had set his teeth.

Michele's innocent look and the lingering scent that overflowed her body were the perfect match for a visit to the old abandoned barn. Michele never said no to the Flowster brothers, her body was always available to drink or to enjoy carnal pleasures.

 ...

- Nicolau was right, it is much more delicious - said Lilian as she squeezed Michele's fragile body in her lap.

Although she was weak, the young human, did not deny the desire to give her blood. Michele did not yet have a human partner, and until she came, she was enjoying herself with the Flowster brothers.

...

The afternoons were terribly hot. Lilian didn't mind exposing herself to the sun and tanning her skin. Most of the day she stayed in the open fields of the island, anywhere that was free and clear of the bush she took it as her training arena.

After releasing Michele, Lilian looked for a new place on the island, something difficult to find, since she already knew every piece of land. But the walks were never boring.

Returning to the castle, taking the road that cut through the poisonous forest  and following through the village, Lilian saw a witch. The vampire hated men and witches alike. Men for creating laws that reduced women to nothing, and witches for sacrificing lives in experiments out of curiosity.

The witch in his sights was carrying a human baby. Unlike Nicolau, who just closed his eyes to such events, Lilian cared, and very much, mainly because women were the main target of sacrifices. The dagger on her hip, which she received as a gift from the imrão, would finally be useful.

Lilian hurled it at the witch who fell, knocking the child down. The baby rolled away , but did not cry, he was probably under a spell to sleep, since the witches liked to do their experiments with their victims still alive.

Lilian approached the child, who was wrapped in rags.

- Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, - she said, cynically.

Without taking her eyes off the witch, she took the child by the rags, because they were  too old, they tore themselves leaving the baby to roll naked on the floor. A boy. A baby, male , being taken by a witch. This  sparked Lilian's curiosity. Although he hated the fact that the girls were taken, a male baby would mean a lot, and coming from witches would not be good.

However, there was no time for questioning, the witch acted quickly, releasing a flash of light in Lilian's eyes. Her blockers were broken, she was in agony when she felt the sunlight burning her retinas. The witch took the opportunity, picked up the child from the floor and ran away.

- Damn you! - Lilian shouted blocking the sun with her hands.

She could not open his eyes or he would burn what was left of his vision. The red tears were coming down, the pain seemed to take over his whole head, it was as if his brain was frying together. Her hands sought support, the other senses tried to help, but her head hurt too much for her to concentrate on anything. Lilian knew that the best thing to do was to wait. Wait for the sun to set and night to bathe the earth. Walking without direction would only bring more problems, could get lost and end up trapped in the forest of death. Being alone and helpless was not a good thing, but it was her only option.
