Donnie swallowed involuntarily and quickly fell to the ground on his knees. "Lolita, it's all my fault. I should not have colluded with Grady to steal your position or to force you to marry him. Please forgive your uncle!"
Lolita stood there, biting her lips, and did not answer him. She had completely given up all hope before that, so that had come as a surprise to her. She had become the Mayor of Pearl City and found her grandfather's real killer, and even her sneaky second uncle was kneeling on the ground begging for her forgiveness. She was filled with mixed feelings. She wanted to punish her second uncle but could not bear to—they were families, after all.
Darryl must have guessed what she was feeling and could not help but sigh at how soft-hearted she was. Then he waved for the guards and said, "Take Donnie away and lock him up for the time being."
"Yes, sir!" the guards said, who then proceeded to drag Donnie away.
"Well, everything has ended well," Darryl said with a smile
